The second European Union–Gulf Cooperation Council summit, scheduled for 24 October in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, has been postponed, the European Council announced on Thursday. A replacement date will be announced later.

What the announcement establishes

The statement gives no reason for the delay. It says the EU remains committed to strengthening its partnership with the GCC and building on the first summit in October 2024. The decision changes the timetable for high-level regional diplomacy; it does not announce an end to the partnership.
