Counter-terrorism police arrested a British-Iranian man in Westminster on 1 October in their investigation into activity near RAF Fairford. The arrest was on suspicion of preparing terrorist acts. No conviction or finding of responsibility follows from that suspicion.

Police correct their initial account

The force’s updated statement identifies the man as 25, correcting an earlier age of 27. It also withdraws an initial assertion that a second man had been questioned under caution. Two properties in Westminster were searched.

The investigation remains open

Police say five men detained on 27 September remain on bail. Investigators are considering possible foreign-state involvement among several lines of inquiry; the statement does not establish that connection.
