France and Chad have signed a letter of intent on defence-capability cooperation. French Armed Forces Minister Catherine Vautrin says the document, signed with her Chadian counterpart Issakha Malloua Djamouss, is intended to structure work in innovative fields. The French defence ministry listed the announcement on 14 October; reporting by Opex360 dates the Paris signing to 13 October.

What the announcement establishes

The minister’s public statement sets out a direction for cooperation, without specifying a new troop deployment, a weapons order or a funding amount. It should therefore be read as a diplomatic and capability-development step. The detailed commitments and any subsequent implementation decisions require separate verification.
