Britain announced 31 new Russia-related sanctions on 1 October, combining restrictions on eight vessels with measures against 23 people and entities. The Foreign Office says the package targets revenue, disinformation and alleged abuses against Ukrainians.

Shipping and financial restrictions

The government lists asset freezes and other restrictions for designated people and entities, with travel bans for individuals. The ships face shipping and trade measures. The vessel category includes LNG-related activity, bunkering support and ice-class ships.

What the announcement establishes

This is an announcement of British restrictions and the government’s stated reasons for them. Allegations against designated parties should not be confused with criminal convictions. The legal designations and applicable licences determine the scope of each restriction.
