Twelve people were arrested following disorder near Haslar Marina in Gosport on Sunday 4 October, Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said. Its news listing published at 13:00 on Monday said they remained in custody at that time.

A gathering near the marina

Sky News reports that around 350 people gathered after a boat carrying migrants was expected to arrive. The broadcaster said those arrested were 11 men and one woman. Suspected offences included assaulting an officer, criminal damage and public-order offences; arrest does not establish guilt.

Footage under review

According to the police account reported by Sky, the crowd had dispersed by 2am. A small number of officers received treatment at the scene, with no serious injuries reported. Police said they would examine body-worn video and footage posted online to identify any further possible offences.
