Kyiv’s Northern Bridge hit as Russian strikes disrupt crossings, mayor says
Damage to the road and trolleybus wires halted east-to-west traffic on Saturday morning, following repeated attacks on the Southern Bridge.

Kyiv’s Northern Bridge was hit during a Russian air attack on Saturday, 3 October, Mayor Vitali Klitschko said. The new strike extends disruption to a second major crossing of the Dnipro after repeated attacks on the Southern Bridge.
Traffic interrupted
Klitschko reported damage to the road surface and overhead trolleybus wires. Emergency services were sent to the scene, and traffic travelling from the eastern bank towards the western bank was suspended. Reuters reported no casualties in its early account; the information remains an initial assessment.
A new crossing affected
The BBC and Reuters both reported Saturday’s strike. It follows drone attacks on the Southern Bridge over the preceding two days, which had already disrupted journeys across the river. The distinction matters: the Northern Bridge incident is a new development, rather than another account of Thursday’s attack.
Pressure on the capital
Kyiv’s defence council met on Friday amid the earlier infrastructure strikes, according to the BBC. The bridges connect residential districts and workplaces on opposite banks of the capital. The reports reviewed do not establish when normal traffic on the Northern Bridge will resume.
