Kyiv reports drone strikes at a school and near a major bridge

Children were sheltering when a school was hit, while a separate attack disrupted a crossing linking the capital’s two banks.

Kyiv authorities reported Russian drone attacks affecting a school and a major bridge on Thursday. The reports concern separate locations and should not be read as a single incident.

Children in shelter

Associated Press reported that children and staff were in a shelter when a drone struck a school. Mayor Vitali Klitschko said its warhead had not exploded. Initial accounts did not establish a casualty toll for the wider attacks. RBC-Ukraine separately reported a fire at a school in the Solomianskyi district and an emergency response.

Southern Bridge disrupted

The Kyiv Independent reported that two drones struck near supports of the Southern Bridge around midday, citing Klitschko. Traffic was halted for inspection, and metro services were disrupted. The bridge connects the eastern and western banks of the city. A closure for inspection does not establish that the structure collapsed.

The civilian consequences

The reports illustrate how attacks can interrupt schooling and movement through a capital even while assessments of physical damage remain incomplete. The immediate questions are whether everyone at the affected locations is accounted for, what inspectors find and when transport can resume safely. This account will need updating as authorities publish confirmed findings.
