Russian strikes kill at least eight in Ukraine, officials say
Preliminary Ukrainian casualty reports follow attacks on several cities.

Deadly attacks across several cities
Ukrainian officials reported at least eight deaths in overnight Russian attacks on 7 October: four in Pryluky, two in Kyiv and two in Kremenchuk, according to AP. Rescue work continued and the toll remained preliminary.
Buildings and warehouses damaged
Kyiv mayor Vitali Klitschko reported damage to buildings and warehouses across the capital, according to Reuters. A Reuters witness heard explosions. In Dnipro, the regional governor reported damage to an industrial facility without identifying it or providing further details. These accounts concern different locations and should not be combined into a single damage estimate.
Competing accounts of the targets
Russia said its targets included Flamingo missile and drone facilities. AP could not independently verify that claim. Reports of civilian casualties do not establish what Moscow intended to hit.
